Many customers ask us whether it is better to use cardboard or plastic boxes. Thus, we thought it is a good idea to share our experience here, so, here we go:
Cardboard Boxes Recommended!
We recommend always use cardboard boxes over plastic boxes or plastic bags because plastic boxes usually trap moisture within the box. The moisture is typically not visible or even noticeable, but over the course of a few weeks mould can build.
Use Desiccators
Buy and put some “desiccators” in the cardboard box. These are those tiny packets often found inside boxes when buying new electronic devices (with warning labels saying “do not eat”). They are good at absorbing moisture inside a box! Desiccators are cheap and can be bought in bulk, e.g. here on Tiki.
Consider Using Cedar Chips
To prevent any critters from being attracted to your valuables, you can consider throwing some cedar chips (you can find them on Shopee, click here) in with your clothes. Those will deter pests, smell much better as mothballs, and do not contain any pesticides that are harmful to your items.
