Mini Storage.  What is it actually, you ask?

Mini storage, or self-storage, is used by people and companies to store anything they like in a clean, well-lit, secure and affordable self-storage unit.  Each customer gets to choose how long he or she wants to use his or her storage unit for.  Fun fact:  A rule of thumb is that approx. 10% of self-storage customers rent their unit ‘forever’!

The self-storage industry is very popular in the U.S., with approx. 50,000+ storage facilities, that’s about one self-storage facility for every 7,000 citizens.  About 10% of all citizens in the U.S. actually rent a self-storage unit.  A city like Hong Kong has more than 200 self-storage facilities, and we are proud to be the first company to introduce self-storage in Hanoi!

People often require mini storage, when they experience a transition in life. This can mean both a positive or negative, change.  In the industry, we often refer to the 4D’s:

  • death
  • divorce
  • downsizing
  • dislocation

Where death and divorce are most likely obvious reasons, the term downsizing typically means that the customer has to (or wants to) downsize his or her space she is either living or working in. And we usually speak of dislocation when either the customer relocates to another city and is in the need of space to store items until they can be moved to the new location.  Or, a marriage results in the newly-wed couple having duplicate household items.  They then have to figure out, hopefuly peacefully) which items to keep, which items to toss.  And while they do that, mini storage can come in very handy.  The same of course also applies to company mergers!
